SUGGESTIONS FOR GETTING THE MOST OUT OF THE BOOK

First, start playing through the music until you find an example you like.

Next, play the example over and over, master it, move it through different patterns, change keys, change all the notes, create your own variations (that’s why there are blank measures) – BE CREATIVE!

One or two rhythms/patterns can serve you well for quite some time.

It is highly recommended that readers/players use one of the many speed-changing apps to slow down (or speed up) the examples. Personally, I use Amazing Slow Downer.

• Rhythmic exercises to improve playing, sight-reading, and improvising.

• A resource for composition and improvisation, a rhythmic repository.

• A starting-off point for future books and educational resources that encourage the creative uses of rhythm and melody.
